Professional assessment of school media specialists and their programs has increased dramatically with recent emphasis on standards, academic achievement, and accountability.
Read The Big Think: Reflecting, Reacting, and Realizing Improved Learning by Carol Koechlin and Sandi Zwaan in Teacher Librarian, February 2010, Volune 37, Issue 3, p. 22-26). The article discusses reflection upon and assessment of learning in education for teacher-librarians. Particular focus is given to a concept the authors refer to as the Big Think, a metacognative experience that allows participants to reflect on what they learned and how they learned it.
