L551 Information Inquiry for School Teachers: Project 4
Collaborative Unit - What If I Were a German Teenager?
Created by Kathy Mulder 4/25/2007
The following is a unit overview, discussion, lesson plan, and supporting materials for a collaborative unit involving a Level I German Class and library media center. In this unit, the media specialist and German teacher will collaborate to create an inquiry rich learning experience that will build on students’ information literacy, and German language and culture knowledge. This unit, which is meant to begin in the middle of the first semester of school, will reach students at a time when they have already learned some of the basic language skills. The goal of this unit is to introduce students to the German way of life, especially that of their peers, through personal inquiry. Many students learn about German culture first-hand through exchange programs, but not all students can afford travel overseas, so this will give them an opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture through inquiry.
